Mike Süsser
Mike Süsser – Tactician with HeartUnorganized kitchens, disrespectful handling of products and lazy personnel drive him crazy. Yet the boxing fan keeps his nerve even in seemingly desperate situations. The tactician among the “Kochprofis” (cooking professionals) is especially appraised by his colleagues for his razor sharp analyses. With a good portion of Austrian sarcasm and his infectious enthusiasm, Mike also manages to encourage supposedly hopeless cases among the restaurant proprietors to maximum capacities.
Mike Süsser was born on 8th of January 1971 in Itzehoe, Northern Germany. After having absolved his apprenticeship as a chef at the restaurant “Zum Aussichtsturm” in his home town Burg Dithmarschen, he was cooking at places all over the world: Zermatt, USA, Davos, Hamburg, Fuerteventura and Madeira. When Süsser finished his work as a chef at the crested restaurant “Bubberl Gut” in Salzburg, he eventually founded his first own cooking-event-studio in Gmunden in the Salzkammergut in 2004. Later, he opened three further restaurants.
Next to sophisticated international cuisine, the passionate boxing fan is fond of good and regional traditional fare. Mike himself describes his way of cooking as “REGIO fresh” (with an emphasis on the use of regional products and their freshness). In 2008 his cookbook “Aufgegabelt” (“Forked Up”) was published. Furthermore, Mike loves the stage and is a passionate host. He is just a true cooking-entertainer who is bookable for all sorts of occasions such as cool after work parties, Christmas celebrations, weddings, business events and more.
Besides, Mike possesses a new “home base” since 2009 which is a “Vierkant”-type of farm house from the 16th century. The house features a multi-level area for events especially for businesses and groups. In addition Süsser holds his own bison cultivation and gives cooking classes which probably are his greatest fervor. He simply loves it to make his knowledge accessible to interested people.
The famous “king of delicatessen”, Ralf Bos finds the right words in his personal foreword to Süsser’s cookbook: “It is not his intention to come to fame, but to pass on his knowledge and talent. Preferably, he would give away his ability, and everybody who has participated in a cooking class with this irresistibly likable young hero knows what mind and genius I’m talking about.”
Süsser also brings experience in TV with him: In Austrian TV he was to be seen by other famous chefs many times which is just the perfect requirement for his latest project: Since 2009 Mike Süsser participates in the docusoap “Die Kochprofis – Einsatz am Herd” (“The Cooking Professionals – Operation Hearth”) at the television channel RTL II. In cooperation with his colleagues Frank Oehler and Andreas Schweiger he goes to the rescue of caterers in need.
